Navigating health insurance requirements as a student can be challenging, especially with the demands of academic life. If you're a student at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) and have existing health insurance that meets the university's criteria, you have the option to waive the University of California Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP). 

This guide will help you understand the waiver process, ensuring you meet all necessary deadlines and requirements.

Deadlines:

Quarter Students

• Fall Quarter = September 1st, 2024
• Winter Quarter = December 1st, 2024
• Spring Quarter = March 1st, 2025

Semester Students

• Fall Semester = August 1st, 2024
• Spring Semester = December 1st, 2024

Waiver Process:

1.Select  a plan within our World Elite Series

For UC Davis, we selected the World Elite plans to provide comprehensive and affordable coverage that meet the waiver requirements of your institution.

2.Complete and Submit the Waiver Form

Look for confirmation email immediately after purchasing one of the World Elite Plans. Once you receive it, please access UC Davis’s waiver form by logging into this account using your credentials. 

3.Confirmation and Verification

UC Davis will review your waiver submission to ensure your insurance meets their criteria. If approved, the charge for UC SHIP will be removed from your student account. If there are any issues, you will be notified and may need to provide additional information or clarification.

4.Carry Your Insurance Card

Always carry your existing health insurance card. This card is necessary for accessing medical services at UC Davis’s Student Health and Counseling Services and other healthcare facilities.
